McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University welcomed this year’s incoming cohort of new medical resident physicians and fellows during the weeks of June 23 and 30, marking the beginning of their post-graduate medical training. This year, about 400 new medical trainees joined McGaw’s 180 residency and fellowship programs, including internal medicine, neurology, radiology, psychiatry, urology, neurological surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, otolaryngology, general surgery, emergency medicine, and pathology.

Nearly 50 percent of the incoming cohort come to McGaw from top 25 medical schools and residency programs, with 15 percent of new residents transitioning to graduate medical education training at McGaw after graduating from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

During their first week, all new, incoming residents and fellows gathered for orientation sessions, connecting with new colleagues at their base hospitals and marking the official start of their next stage of professional development.
