Feinberg Commencement is May 20

Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine will hold graduation ceremonies beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Navy Pier Grand Ballroom.

Renowned cardiologist Eugene Braunwald, MD, will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Braunwald is the Distinguished Hersey Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

He recently was named a master of the American College of Cardiology, honoring his 50 years of groundbreaking research in heart failure, coronary artery disease, and heart attacks.

The Feinberg School’s Class of 2005 includes 167 students who will receive MD degrees, six of whom will also receive PhD degrees through the Medical Scientist Training Program.

Most of the class (53) will enter residency programs in internal medicine. Fifteen students will begin postgraduate training in pediatrics; 11 in anesthesiology; 9 each in general surgery and orthopedic surgery; 10 in emergency medicine; and 6 obstetrics and gynecology.
