All-Campus Research Day Slated for March 4

WFO dayApproximately 150 poster presentations, plus break-out sessions and seminars, will be featured during the Feinberg School’s All-Campus Research Day on March 4. The event is sponsored by the Northwestern Medical Women Faculty Organization (WFO). Male and female faculty members and students from all disciplines are invited to attend.

The program begins at 1 p.m. in Feinberg conference room A of Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a grant-writing seminar by Eric W. Boberg, PhD, director of research development for the Department of Medicine. At 2 p.m., Lewis J. Smith, MD, professor of medicine and Northwestern University’s associate vice president for research, will provide an update on the Institutional Review Board. An Animal Care and Use Committee update by William J. Karpus, PhD, professor of pathology and microbiology—immunology will begin at 3 p.m.

After these break-out sessions, Feinberg School Dean Lewis Landsberg, MD, will give the keynote address. The afternoon will include time for faculty members to present their research and meet investigators in various disciplines of the University. Announcement of clinical and basic research prizes, as well as a wine and cheese reception, will follow the keynote address.

Nalini M. Rajamannan, MD, assistant professor of medicine and cochair of the WFO Steering Committee, is coordinating the school-wide research day. “I hope this program will result in more interaction among basic scientists, clinical researchers, and those who conduct translational research,” says Dr. Rajamannan.
