Former Lecturer, Dr. Leonard Fenninger Passes Away
Dr. Leonard D. Fenninger, a former lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine, passed away on September 10 at the age of 91.
Dr. Fenninger was active on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital staff from 1985 until his retirement in 1990. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and trained in Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital. He served as director of Strong Memorial Hospital and associate dean at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry from 1954â1967. He continued his career as associate director for the National Institutes of Health from 1969â1973 and as vice president for Medical Education and Science Policy for the American Medical Association from 1981â1984.
A memorial service for Dr. Fenninger is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, at the Glencoe Union Church, 263 Park Ave., Glencoe, Ill. 60022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Geneva Foundation of Presbyterian Homes, 3200 Grant St., Evanston, Ill. 60201.
