Markus Bredel, MD, director of the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute research program and an assistant professor of neurological surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine, was featured in a segment on CBS News regarding his work identifying the genes that make brain tumors flourish. Bredel’s lab has discovered 31 genes which allow a brain tumor to grow even after treatment. This discovery could lead to new therapies to combat the disease.
