Public Invited to Free Alzheimer’s Program May 8

CHICAGO — The public is invited to attend a free Alzheimer’s Day program Thursday, May 8, at which they’ll hear about the latest research and treatments, and have the opportunity to talk to researchers and clinicians from the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. The program will be held from 11:30 to 4:30 at the Feinberg Pavilion at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, 251 E. Huron, 3rd floor conference center.

The day’s events include:

11:30 to 1 p.m.: Ronald Petersen, M.D., director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the Mayo Clinic, will discuss mild cognitive impairment, the stage between normal forgetfulness and a diagnosis of dementia.

1 to 3 p.m.: Attendees will have lunch, view posters about current Alzheimer’s research at Northwestern and be able to talk to scientists about their research.

3:15 – 4:30 p.m.: A panel presentation and Town Hall meeting. A neuropsychologist, neurologist and social worker will give brief updates on clinical treatment and care, but most of the time will be for audience questions.
