2011-2012 Student Senate Executive Board

Meet the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine students who comprise the 2011-12 Student Senate Executive Board and committee chairs, including Paul Bottone, president; Chris Childers, vice president; Alex Sidlak, treasurer; Matt Hire, secretary; Bruce Henschen, Academic Affairs Committee chair; Michael Luo, Student Organizations Committee chair; and Kate Peng, Campus Affairs Committee chair.

Paul Bottone

President:
Paul Bottone, Class of 2013
As executive board president, Paul Bottone, also president of the Class of 2013, will develop a vision for the senate’s future, report to and work with the school administration, and speak on behalf of the student body at various annual engagements, such as Founders’ Day and alumni meetings.

Chris Childers

Vice President:
Chris Childers, Class of 2014

As vice president, Chris Childers will be responsible for the organizational aspects of the senate, namely, organizing meetings and making sure that ongoing Senate projects are being completed in a timely fashion.

Alex Sidlak

Treasurer:
Alex Sidlak, Class of 2014

As treasurer for the executive board, Alex Sidlak will be in charge of managing the senate’s finances. He says that he is excited to play a part in the rollout of Feinberg’s new curriculum next year.

Matt Hire

Secretary:
Matt Hire, Class of 2014

As secretary, Matt Hire, also president of the Class of 2014, takes meeting minutes and updates the senate web site to ensure that everyone remains informed of senate activities. Additionally, he is responsible for monitoring and updating all of the class e-mail lists.

Bruce Henschen

Academic Affairs Committee Chair:
Bruce Henschen, Class of 2012

As chair of the Academic Affairs Committee, Bruce Henschen, the outgoing executive board president and former secretary (2009-10), says that he has the opportunity to improve both the current Feinberg curriculum as well as help develop the new curriculum.

Mike Luo

Student Organizations Committee Chair:
Michael Luo, Class of 2014

As Student Organizations chair, Michael Luo will inform new group leaders about obligations for senate funding and recognition, as well as monitor adherence to those requirements. He will also facilitate the formation of new groups and the continuing work of existing groups.

Peng

Campus Affairs Committee Chair:
Kate Peng, Class of 2014

In her role as chair of the Campus Affairs Committee, Kate Peng will coordinate school-wide events and handle issues concerning campus space. Her central duties involve helping to plan events like Family Day, Feinberg Formal, and Alumni Weekend.
