In Memoriam (Maurice Gore)

Maurice Gore, MD ’37, associate professor emeritus of medicine, died on May 19 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital of acute myeloid leukemia. He was 92. Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Gore completed an internship at Cook County Hospital and received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1939. He served four years in the Army Air Forces during World War II before returning to Northwestern. Dr. Gore was a member of the Northwestern faculty for 57 years and remained active as an alumnus, receiving the medical school’s Service Award in 1985.

Although Dr. Gore retired from his Chicago practice and stopped teaching about seven years ago, he continued to pursue many hobbies and interests. Dr. Gore is survived by daughter Nancy Marcus; sons Drs. Bernard Gore and Robert Gore; five grandchildren; and twin great-grandsons.
