Alums Enjoy Their Visit “Home”

More than 500 medical school alumni returned to campus this past weekend to renew old friendships, make some new ones, and reconnect with their alma mater. Among the 35 events scheduled during the weekend, highlights included tours of the new Prentice Women’s Hospital and the NBC5-TV studios, as well as a state-of-the-school presentation by Dean Larry Jameson and Vice Deans Jeffery Glassroth and Jeffrey Miller. The weekend culminated with a gala reunion ball held this year at Chicago’s beautiful Four Seasons Hotel, where the class of 1958 was feted on the occasion of their 50th year reunion. Quentin Young, MD ’48 was recognized as the 2008 Distinguished Alumnus. John Clarke, MD ’68, received the 2008 Service Award, and David Winchester, MD ’63, received the 2008 Dean’s Award.

Fourth-year student Jonathan Kahn shares a laugh with Class of 1958 alumnus Dr. Gary Thomas at the Saturday morning breakfast.

During the Friday afternoon tour of the Northwestern Center for Advanced Surgical Education, Dr. Charles Snorf tries his hand at minimally invasive surgical skills while fellow Class of 1958 member Dr. Jim Andre and fourth-year student Chris Anderson observe.
