Stem Cell Research: The Promise and Perils

Listen to Dr. Kessler

Stem cell research has garnered a great deal of hype and controversy. Hear from one of the leading experts in the field, John A. Kessler, MD, chair of the neurology department at the Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Kessler is the Davee Professor of Stem Cell Biology and Chair of the Davee Department of Neurology. He is also the Director of the Northwestern University Stem Cell Institute and the Feinberg Clinical Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Kessler is one of the pioneers in the field of regenerative neurology. His work with stem cells and growth factors has spanned the divide between developmental neurobiology and clinical neurology, and has helped pave the way for the development of techniques for repairing the damaged nervous system.

Dr. Kessler’s presentation was recorded at Northwestern Alumni Association’s NU Reunion Weekend at “Classes without Quizzes,” on October 12, 2007.
