Campus Construction Moves Forward
Within the last month constructon activity picked up on the Chicago campus. Barricades went up around the Wesley Pavilion, signaling the start of demolition that will be completed by year’s end to clear way for the new Prentice Women’s Hospital, slated for completion in 2007. The current Prentice Pavilion will continue operations until that time; future locations for the inpatient psychiatry in Stone Pavilion are being evaluated. After current uses in the Prentice and Stone Pavilions cease, the site will revert to Northwestern University for possible research expansion. Construction of the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center of Northwestern University is scheduled to begin in May on the former Passavant Pavilion site.
The current bridge across Huron to VA Chicago Health Care System—Lakeside Division will connect to the Lurie Center, and a new bridge will connect the Lurie Center to the Health Sciences Building.
